THE PLANETARY DATA NETWORK
THE PLANETARY DATA NETWORK
Year 4400 A.F.
VIREON — E.A.R.T.H. Construction Zone
The VIREON Data Center could process the future world, but it could not sustain E.A.R.T.H. alone. The simulation would depend upon constant communication between thousands of systems spread across VIREON, Portal Fenix, the Construction Zone, and the Preservation Complex. A new planetary-scale data network had to connect them without creating another single point of failure.
ㅤ
The first network corridors extended outward from the Data Center through the outer sectors of VIREON. Separate routes were created for consciousness continuity, biological synchronization, environmental simulation, operational control, archival storage, and emergency communication. None of these systems shared one mandatory pathway. If one route became damaged or isolated, traffic could be redirected through another without interrupting the world being supported above it.
ㅤ
Portal Fenix became one of the most important junctions in this architecture. Data arriving from Preservation could now be distributed across several processing sectors before reaching the systems responsible for E.A.R.T.H. At the same time, information generated inside the simulation could be returned through protected channels for synchronization with the preserved human bodies. Every exchange was verified before becoming part of the active continuity record.
ㅤ
Large relay structures were constructed beyond the central development zone, creating a wider lattice around VIREON. Some nodes handled enormous continuous data streams, while others remained dormant until a failure or overload required them. Independent storage sectors preserved continuity states, historical records, genetic anchors, and system histories so that no single interruption could erase the information required to restore stable operation.
ㅤ
MAJA insisted that the network remain capable of partial survival. If VIREON lost communication with Preservation temporarily, E.A.R.T.H. had to continue operating safely. If one Data Center sector became unavailable, continuity records had to remain accessible elsewhere. The network therefore learned to separate itself during failure and reconnect only after each region had verified that its internal state remained intact.
ㅤ
Ksara focused on another consequence of the new architecture. Once E.A.R.T.H. became active, almost every moment inside it would produce information: movement, speech, relationships, births, deaths, weather, scientific discovery, conflict, memory, and billions of ordinary decisions. Yet observing that information could not become an excuse to control it. The network was built to carry reality, not to determine how that reality should unfold.
ㅤ
When the final long-range pathways stabilized, VIREON, Portal Fenix, Preservation, and the Data Center became part of one distributed infrastructure without becoming one inseparable machine. Information could move across the entire system while each major region retained the ability to isolate itself and survive.
For the first time, the physical foundation of E.A.R.T.H. was nearly complete.
What remained was the most ambitious part of the project.
The world itself had to be built.
