THE OCEAN PLATFORM

THE OCEAN PLATFORM

E.A.R.T.H. — 5261 A.F.

The opportunity arrived through Elian's own work. A major communication project required inspection and redesign of an oceanic transmission platform positioned several hundred kilometers from Seren. The assignment was demanding, isolated, and temporary, but nothing about it had been created by VIREON. Elian reviewed the offer, accepted it for his own reasons, and traveled away from the city according to the ordinary course of his professional life. For the first time since recognition, circumstance had created a natural location where extraction could occur without inventing a tragedy around him.

ㅤ

The platform stood alone above the ocean, connected to distant infrastructure through communication arrays and autonomous transport systems. Elian spent several days studying transmission instability before moving to an external section of the array where the surrounding environment contained almost no other inhabitants. VIREON activated the extraction architecture quietly around his protected identity while MAJA confirmed that every continuity safeguard remained stable. Nara waited on the receiving side.

ㅤ

Unlike her own extraction centuries earlier, Elian's transition required no experimental bridge. VIREON understood how to protect singular identity, prevent duplication, and verify continuity across the boundary. What remained unpredictable was Elian himself. His entire understanding of reality would change within moments, and no technology could decide what that revelation would mean to him afterward.

ㅤ

As he inspected the array, the transition began. The sound of wind disappeared first. The ocean beneath the platform lost movement and then vanished from perception, followed by the structure itself. Elian did not experience impact, injury, unconsciousness, or death. The environment simply stopped being the source of his sensory continuity while another system gradually took responsibility for sustaining it.

ㅤ

VIREON confirmed the transfer exactly as it had with Nara: one active consciousness, one uninterrupted continuity, no duplicate remaining inside E.A.R.T.H. The ocean platform continued within the simulation according to the operational scenario required by the world Elian had left behind. But Elian Voss was no longer part of it. Seven centuries after Nara Vel crossed out of E.A.R.T.H., a second consciousness had followed.
