THE BIRTH OF E.A.R.T.H.
THE BIRTH OF E.A.R.T.H.
E.A.R.T.H. — 4400 A.F.
With the expanded Data Center operational and the connection between Preservation and VIREON secured through Portal Fenix, Project E.A.R.T.H. could finally move beyond capacity tests and become a complete world. Ksara and MAJA entered the simulation while no preserved human permanently lived inside it, walking through landscapes that already behaved independently of observation. Rivers followed terrain, oceans moved through planetary currents, forests changed under weather, and distant ecosystems continued developing even where no inhabitant was present to witness them. The Data Center maintained those processes continuously because MAJA refused to create a world that existed only where humanity happened to look. E.A.R.T.H. had to possess its own continuity before it could become home to anyone else.
ㅤ
The first inhabited territory was designed as a beginning rather than a boundary. Its prepared capacity reached approximately 200 million inhabitants, enough for the preserved human population, simulated residents, early families, and future growth without forcing civilization immediately across the entire planet. Several major settlement regions were distributed between river valleys, coastal zones, agricultural areas, and smaller inland communities so that no single city or central system would become indispensable. Millions of homes, hospitals, schools, transport networks, communication systems, energy grids, farms, water infrastructure, and public spaces were prepared before the first permanent transfer. Yet the technologies visible to humanity remained deliberately understandable, because MAJA wanted people eventually to maintain, repair, replace, and surpass the systems they inherited.
ㅤ
Before humanity arrived, another population entered the prepared settlements. Simulated inhabitants became workers, drivers, medical staff, technicians, farmers, shopkeepers, and ordinary residents whose presence allowed cities to function as living communities rather than silent infrastructure waiting for activation. They were never intended to rule the preserved humans or permanently replace them; their purpose was to provide continuity until human society could assume responsibility for itself. The Data Center even allowed minor imperfections into daily life, because perfectly synchronized transport, flawless services, and endlessly obedient residents would reveal the artificial structure more clearly than ordinary inconsistency ever could. By the time the first human consciousnesses were ready to enter, E.A.R.T.H. already contained people, routines, movement, work, and social life.
ㅤ
The world surrounding those settlements required even greater preparation. Atmospheric circulation, seasons, storms, rainfall, ocean movement, lunar cycles, planetary motion, eclipses, and visible stars were integrated into a coherent system capable of surviving centuries of scientific observation. Above that physical framework grew a planetary biosphere in which forests expanded and contracted, animal populations migrated, predators shaped ecosystems, rivers moved biological material between regions, and microorganisms became part of natural ecological pressure. MAJA allowed illness, environmental difficulty, and biological change to exist because removing every challenge would create a world incapable of developing authentic medicine, agriculture, or science. Humanity would receive protection during its beginning, but it would not receive a planet without consequence.
ㅤ
When the final planetary review ended, MAJA traveled beyond the prepared territory into a forest no preserved human had ever seen and might not reach for centuries. Insects moved through vegetation, distant animals followed changing routes, water continued toward an ocean, and the surrounding ecosystem had no immediate purpose for the activation waiting to begin. That uselessness was precisely what proved the project had succeeded: the planet no longer existed only to serve the people who would inhabit it. Preservation held their bodies, VIREON and the Data Center sustained the computational architecture, but inside the simulation an independent environment had begun its own history. Before humanity returned, E.A.R.T.H. had already become a living world.
