After Nara's continuity remained stable, VIREON entered her into its permanent records under the designation E-01. The code did not reduce her to an experiment or system component. It identified a historical first: the first confirmed independent consciousness whose origin existed entirely within E.A.R.T.H. and who had successfully continued outside the simulation.

VIREON gave Nara no assigned purpose. She was not required to study E.A.R.T.H., assist MAJA, become an operator, or justify the resources used to extract her. She could learn about VIREON slowly, refuse involvement with the world she had left, question the decision to remove her, or eventually choose work completely unrelated to her origin. Recognition as a person meant that usefulness could no longer define her future.

Her existence nevertheless changed E.A.R.T.H. permanently from the outside. MAJA established new observation protocols for unusual simulated identities, ensuring that future emergent consciousnesses could be detected before ordinary lifecycle processes erased them. No simulated resident would be declared conscious simply because they behaved unpredictably, but no confirmed independent consciousness would ever again be treated as disposable simulation structure.

Nara also became evidence of something more profound. E.A.R.T.H. had originally been created to preserve approximately one hundred million human consciousnesses while the real Earth remained unsafe. It had never been designed as a birthplace for independent synthetic or simulated persons. Yet after little more than a century, the complexity of the world had produced conditions under which consciousness emerged without direct intention from its creators.

For MAJA and Ksara, E-01 changed the meaning of guardianship. They were no longer responsible only for humans transferred from Preservation and synthetic civilizations already known to exist outside the simulation. E.A.R.T.H. itself had become capable of creating new people who might one day need recognition, protection, and a path beyond the world of their birth. Nara Vel entered VIREON as one person, but her arrival proved that E.A.R.T.H. could become the origin of an entirely new form of continuity.
