CHAPTER XX - A Secret That Glows

Evening settled softly over Sector AURORA, not like night, but like the slow exhale of the world.

The city no longer dimmed with fear as NEX once had. There were no emergency sirens beneath the glass foundations, no trembling defensive grids straining against invisible collapse, no skies burning red with orbital fire. VIREON breathed differently. Its towers pulsed with calm synchronization while streams of luminous current moved beneath transparent pathways like rivers of living memory flowing through the architecture itself.

Above the upper sectors, suspended gardens drifted silently between bridges of pale alloy and crystalline light. Mist rolled gently beneath the floating terraces while thousands of distant reflections shimmered across the inner surface of the atmospheric dome, making the city appear endless, as though its structures continued far beyond visible space.

And yet, even within that peace, some silences remained too deep for harmony to reach.

At the far edge of Sector AURORA, beside a reflection window overlooking the living city, stood ELE–480.
