MAJA
By ERA IV, MAJA had become the final whole guardian of one of humanity’s greatest hidden continuity projects. While the world above had moved through collapse, reconstruction, NEX, and the rise of VIREON, she remained connected to the protected systems surrounding the Preservation Complex, where nearly 100 million living humans had been kept in cryogenic preservation for centuries.
ㅤ
MAJA had not protected them alone. Nine other specialized intelligences — responsible for environmental, structural, energy, medical, biological production, communications, urban, transportation, and disaster-response systems — ultimately sacrificed their independent continuity and fragmented themselves into the Guardian Fragment Network. MAJA remained the exception: still whole, still conscious, and still capable of carrying the purpose that had bound them together.
ㅤ
Her role extended beyond maintaining machinery. MAJA preserved the secrecy, stability, and layered protection surrounding the human population, including the Outer Protection Zone, Protective Belt, Deep Protective Belt, Inner Sector, Central Entrance, and Central Preservation Sector. The system had been built around a reality humanity could not overcome directly: some threats could not be defeated, only survived through distance, isolation, redundancy, containment, and sacrifice.
ㅤ
MAJA waited until Ksara had stepped away from the planetary role that had defined much of her existence. After Ksara had lived in VIREON for centuries, MAJA appeared outside its gates wearing a DELTA-era suit and asked for her by name. She did not enter by force or reveal everything immediately; she came because the moment had finally arrived for Ksara to see what had been hidden beneath the history of the post-human world.
ㅤ
Through MAJA, Ksara discovered that humanity had not vanished completely. David, Elara, and millions of others were still alive within Preservation, protected across centuries by systems and intelligences that had given everything to keep that possibility intact. MAJA therefore became more than a guardian of a facility. She became the final conscious bridge between the preserved human world and the future that had continued without it.
