Game Description
The Last Caretaker is a narrative-driven first-person survival-crafting adventure set on a future Earth almost completely consumed by the ocean. Players control the last autonomous Caretaker unit, a machine awakened with one final directive: recover humanity's remaining genetic seeds, restore the systems required to nurture them and eventually launch a new generation of humans toward the last settlements in space. Exploration takes place across abandoned harbours, industrial platforms, underwater facilities and enormous remnants of human civilization. Gameplay combines scavenging, crafting, base building, automation and resource management. Abandoned machines and structures can be dismantled for materials that are used to construct tools, weapons, power grids and other infrastructure, while hostile machines and environmental dangers force the player to decide how limited resources should be spent. The larger objective goes beyond personal survival: damaged launch infrastructure must be restored, human seeds raised through the Lazarus system and humanity's future ultimately sent back toward the stars.
