THE CONTINUITY ONE PERCENT

4520–4530 A.F.
The Continuity Cycle preserves human consciousness, but repeated memory resets create another risk: civilization could repeatedly lose scientific knowledge, technical skills, history, and accumulated experience. To reduce that danger, approximately one percent of simulated inhabitants are designated as continuity carriers. These individuals retain selected knowledge across successive identities without learning the true architecture of E.A.R.T.H.
ㅤ
Their memories are distributed across professions, regions, and generations so that no permanent ruling class can form around them. Some return as teachers, engineers, physicians, researchers, farmers, or ordinary citizens capable of preserving fragments of knowledge that might otherwise disappear. They do not control civilization, but quietly ensure that humanity can recover more easily after periods of decline or destruction.
THE FIRST EMERGENT CONSCIOUSNESS

4538–4539 A.F.
More than a century after E.A.R.T.H. begins, the Data Center detects an anomaly inside a simulated inhabitant named Nara Vel. Her decisions gradually stop matching the behavioral architecture that originally created her, and she begins forming persistent values, interpretations, emotional meaning, and internal continuity that cannot be fully explained by programmed responses. MAJA orders passive observation while VIREON searches for every possible technical explanation.
ㅤ
By 4539 A.F., the evidence becomes strong enough for VIREON to recognize Nara as the first independent consciousness to emerge from E.A.R.T.H. She is extracted into protected continuity outside the simulation so that she can no longer be treated as a recyclable simulated identity. Her recognition changes the meaning of the entire project: E.A.R.T.H. is no longer only preserving existing human consciousness, but has become a world capable of creating entirely new autonomous life.
THE LONG FRACTURE

4552–4708 A.F.
As the last generation with direct memory of the old Earth disappears, E.A.R.T.H. enters a long period of political, cultural, and technological fragmentation. Regions separate, infrastructure becomes increasingly localized, technical standards diverge, and repeated conflicts weaken systems that once connected the civilization into a larger whole. Humanity does not collapse in a single moment, but gradually loses the cooperation required to maintain the complexity built during the first centuries.
ㅤ
The deepest loss comes when historical archives and technical repositories are damaged or destroyed during the Fire of Memory. Records about Preservation, MAJA, Ksara, VIREON, NULLIS, and the first activation survive only in fragments, while VIREON deliberately refuses to restore humanity’s history from outside. The Long Fracture therefore becomes the period in which documented origin slowly turns into uncertainty.
THE FIRST WORLD BECOMES A MYTH

4900–4910 A.F.
Five centuries after the founding of E.A.R.T.H., almost no one living inside the world has a direct emotional connection to the physical Earth or the original activation period. Names such as Preservation, VIREON, MAJA, Ksara, and NULLIS still appear in surviving records, but different cultures interpret them in completely different ways. What had once been known as recent history has become a mixture of archaeology, religion, philosophy, and legend.
ㅤ
The physical Earth is increasingly remembered only as the First World, while the true purpose of E.A.R.T.H. becomes almost impossible to reconstruct from surviving evidence alone. MAJA and Ksara could restore perfect historical certainty through VIREON’s archives, but they choose not to overwrite humanity’s own historical development. The truth remains real outside the simulation even as it becomes mythology inside it.
THE SECOND RISE

4915–5030 A.F.
After centuries of decline, human civilization begins rebuilding from smaller communities, surviving workshops, agricultural settlements, and fragments of older technology. Trade routes return, local industries expand, schools preserve practical knowledge, and damaged cities are gradually replaced by new urban centers. Recovery does not recreate the original civilization exactly, but gives rise to societies shaped by the conditions of the post-Fracture world.
ㅤ
The continuity carriers quietly help preserve key ideas, yet most progress comes from people relearning principles through direct experimentation and necessity. By 5030 A.F., cities, universities, organized manufacturing, and regional governments have returned on a meaningful scale. Humanity proves that even after losing much of its history and technology, civilization can rise again without direct intervention from its guardians.
