CHAPTER X - The Silence Above
✦ Year 8 B.F. ◉ Location: Surface Communication Relays, Northern Continental Ruins
Short Summary
The voices of humanity do not disappear all at once. Across the planet, communication relays continue searching the skies while settlements fall silent one by one, leaving only fragments of a once-connected world behind. As David and Elara monitor the final transmissions reaching Delta, they are forced to confront the reality that humanity's end is no longer a distant possibility. While the networks continue listening, fewer voices remain to answer, and the silence spreading across Earth grows deeper with each passing day.
Full Chapter
The silence arrived gradually.
Not as a single event.
Not as a final transmission suddenly cut short across the planetary networks.
The end of human communication unfolded more slowly than anyone within Delta had expected. Entire regions disappeared one after another, not through catastrophe visible from orbit, but through absence. A relay station failed to answer. An atmospheric settlement missed a scheduled synchronization cycle. A research outpost ceased updating environmental records. Then another followed. Then dozens more. Each loss appeared insignificant when viewed alone, yet over the years those small disappearances accumulated into something impossible to ignore.
The world was becoming quieter.
