CHAPTER XXIII - The Activator
✦ Year: 3302 A.F. ◉ Location: Awakening Chamber
We remained silent long after I rose from the observation room.
Not because nothing remained to say. The opposite was true. Too many meanings had arrived too quickly: H11 as restraint, memory as protection, the massacre as a wound encoded into the architecture of the future, Ksara's fear preserved beyond her own fragmentation. Words spoken immediately after such knowledge would have become tools for avoiding it. So we moved without speaking.
I returned to the central core chamber because the facility seemed to guide us there, and because every unresolved question now converged around the ten suspended cores. The chamber received me with the same low harmonics as before. The sisters remained held in their precise circle, each maintaining her own rhythm within the shared field. Nothing visible had changed, yet after H11, their stillness no longer felt like a mystery of delay. It felt like an ethical suspension so severe it had outlived the world that made it necessary.
I stood beneath them and looked up.
Ten cores.
