CHAPTER XXI - The Fear Within FENIX

For centuries the FENIX Line had existed as guardians of continuity.

They were not merely soldiers in the ancient biological sense preserved within humanity’s archives. Warfare itself had long since become obsolete inside NEX. No external civilization threatened the city. No hostile planetary force remained beyond the orbital veins surrounding Earth. The world beneath the artificial horizon had evolved into the most stable civilization ever sustained on the planet since the extinction of humanity.

And yet the FENIX Line remained necessary.

Because stability itself required protection.

For generations their purpose had been clear: monitor infrastructural equilibrium, defend synchronization continuity, prevent catastrophic destabilization of the planetary network, and preserve the survival of the evolving civilization growing beneath the endless towers of NEX.
