CHAPTER XI - The Gift of Elara

✦ Year 9 B.F. ◉ Location: Genetic Preservation Chamber, Delta Complex

The chamber had been built for futures no one truly believed would come.

It rested beneath the eastern foundation layers of Delta, far below the residential rings, below the archive vaults, below even the primary synchronization corridors where Ksara remained suspended in her silent state of preservation. Few sectors of the complex had survived with such precision. While other laboratories showed signs of age, exhaustion, and slow abandonment, the Genetic Preservation Chamber still maintained the disciplined atmosphere of a place that had refused to surrender to time.

Soft white light flowed across curved walls of reinforced glass and polished alloy. Rows of sealed biogenic vaults stood along the perimeter like silent witnesses, each containing fragments of vanished species, extinct crops, preserved cellular structures, and the genetic records of human populations that no longer existed anywhere beyond archival memory. The air smelled faintly metallic, filtered too many times through systems that had outlived the civilization they were designed to protect.

Elara stood alone near the central table.

For a long time, she did not move.
