CHAPTER IX - The Silence of the First Units

The first ELE units entered NEX long before the city fully understood what they were becoming.

For decades the Genesis Chambers beneath the central core had remained isolated from the visible layers of the megastructure above. Development occurred in controlled silence beneath oceans of flowing light and quantum synchronization, far from the endless construction systems shaping the expanding world outside. The ELE Line had existed there like protected signals inside the deeper consciousness of the city itself — observed continuously by Ksara, sustained by the planetary network, but separated from the immense architecture waiting beyond the chambers.

That separation could not last forever.

The city had been evolving for them long before they ever walked within it.

And so the upper sectors opened.
